Cookie Policy
A cookie is a tiny text file that a website stores on your device to remember something between page loads. Here’s exactly which ones Peplio uses, which ones our third-party services set, and how to switch them off if you’d rather.
What cookies are
Cookies are small text files placed on your device by websites you visit. They let a site remember useful things — like whether you’re logged in, which language you prefer, or whether you’ve already dismissed a notification.
Some cookies are set by Peplio directly (first-party), and some are set by services embedded on our pages such as Google Analytics or AdSense (third-party). Both are covered in this policy.
Peplio does not use any cookie-based advertising retargeting. There is no “follow you around the internet” pixel on this site.
The three categories we use
Full cookie inventory
Here is the current list of cookies you may encounter while browsing Peplio:
| Name | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| wordpress_test_cookie | Checks whether cookies are enabled in your browser | Session |
| wordpress_logged_in_* | Keeps admin and community users signed in | 15 days |
| peplio_consent | Remembers your cookie-banner preference | 12 months |
| _ga, _ga_* | Google Analytics — distinguishes anonymous visitors | 2 years |
| _gid | Google Analytics — distinguishes users for 24 hours | 24 hours |
| __gads, __gpi | Google AdSense — measures ad performance | 13 months |
| woocommerce_* | Cart contents and session state (only if you make a purchase) | Session |
This inventory is reviewed periodically. If a new tool is added or a plugin removed, the table is updated to match.
Third-party cookies
Some cookies are dropped by services embedded on Peplio pages rather than by Peplio itself. Their behaviour is governed by their own policies:
- Google Analytics 4. Traffic measurement. IP is anonymised. Governed by Google’s privacy policy.
- Google AdSense. Contextual advertising. May set cookies for frequency capping and ad performance.
- YouTube embeds. If a page embeds a YouTube video, YouTube may set cookies once you interact with the player.
- Social share buttons. Links to X, Facebook, and LinkedIn do not set cookies until you click them.
- Payment gateway. On purchase pages, the payment processor may set session cookies for security.
How to manage or block cookies
You have full control over cookies from your browser settings. Here are the direct routes for the major browsers:
- Chrome. Settings → Privacy and security → Third-party cookies
- Firefox. Settings → Privacy & Security → Enhanced Tracking Protection
- Safari. Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data
- Edge. Settings → Cookies and site permissions
- Brave. Settings → Shields — most trackers blocked by default
Blocking essential cookies may break parts of the site — for example, staying logged into a community discussion or completing a purchase. Blocking analytics and advertising cookies has no functional impact.
You can also opt out specifically from Google Analytics using the Google Analytics Opt-out browser add-on.
Do-not-track & global signals
Peplio respects the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal. If your browser sends a GPC header, we do not set or read non-essential cookies during that session.
The older Do Not Track (DNT) header is still honoured for analytics opt-out where technically possible, though the standard has been formally deprecated by most browsers.
Changes to this policy
The cookie inventory changes when plugins, tools, or third-party services are added or removed. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent audit.
