durga puja marketing

I once watched a good local shop lose customers just because a phone did not show it. This SEO comic story turns that pain into a Durga Puja adventure with Mitu, Seema and a very stubborn Paanwala. Read the comic below, then catch up on all comic episodes if you missed any.

Pujo lights glow, but Mitu’s heart sinks. A family stops right outside her bakery, checks a phone, and walks on to a famous shop. She whispers, “Arre… aap yahin toh the! Idhar aaiye na…” Why did the phone not choose her? “Phone ne mujhe kyun nahi chuna?”

Three days earlier, Mitu was still staring at the 500 cakes number. Seema said, “Mitu, 500 cakes baad mein. Pujo sirf teen hafte door hai.” Sougan arrived and explained: “Shopper pehle phone mein dhundega, phir paidal chalega.” Search comes before footsteps.

Sougan searched ‘Pujo sweets near me’ while dhaak drummers rehearsed. Big shops appeared, but not the bakery. Seema asked dryly, “Hum internet pe exist bhi karte hain ya nahi?” Mitu cried, “Hum… gayab hain? Aaaah!” and fainted into the rasgulla.

Paanwala laughed loudly. “Mera paan khud bolta hai, internet ki zaroorat nahi!” But his stall was on no map, and a tourist walked right past him. Seema said, “Haan, bolta hoga. Par tourist ko sunai nahi deta.”

Why this SEO comic story starts with a missing shop

Remember the family who stood outside Mitu’s bakery and walked away? Their phone showed another shop. Shoppers search first, then walk. That is the heart of local search. Test your own shop by searching “sweets near me” like Sougan did. If you are missing, you are invisible, like Paanwala. I explain the basics in my guide on SEO for small business in India, and Google explains it in its local ranking help page.

Claim and fill your profile: Google Business Profile for small business

Step one is claiming your listing at Google Business Profile, then verifying it. Remember the twist? A cousin had already made Mitu’s listing, with a wrong Closed sign. Check first, then claim or request ownership. Fill every detail honestly: real hours, phone, address. No “open all night” bakery ghosts. Google lists the editing rules clearly. This is the core of local SEO for small business.

The quest began in Kumartuli, where artists shape clay Durga idols. Sougan said, “Murti ko chehra chahiye, dukaan ko profile. Pujo se pehle!” Mitu hid from the giant Mahishasura: “Seema, woh Mahishasura mujhe ghoor raha hai!” Every business needs a face online first. A great SEO comic story starts here.

In a cyber cafe by the pandal lane, Sougan shows step one of this SEO comic story: claim your Google Business Profile and verify it by postcode or call. Mitu panics, “OTP aaya! Ab kya karun? Mera dil dhak dhak kar raha hai!” Aunty taunts, “Internet se kya hoga? Log kya kahenge!”

Twist! Google says the bakery listing already exists, with an unknown owner, a wrong closed sign and an old number. Mitu’s cousin made it years ago. Seema says, “Yeh kaun hai? Hamari dukaan Closed dikha raha hai!” Sougan replies, “Ownership wapas lo, phir sab theek karo. Pehle cousin ko phone!”

In the vegetable market, Sougan explains step two: fill every detail, from name and address to real hours, phone and Pujo timings. Mitu types proudly, “Maine likha, open all day, all night! Sahi hai na?” Seema smirks, “Haan, bakery mein bhoot bhi cake banate hain kya?”

Photos, Pujo sweets and reviews for durga puja marketing

Real photos beat stock images, so Seema shot the shopfront and kitchen. Shrink them first with the Peplio Image Optimizer, because slow pages lose people (see Core Web Vitals). Then add photos and list sandesh, mishti doi and prices as products. Ask happy customers to leave reviews. Good durga puja marketing is simple and honest.

Between giant pandals, Seema photographs the shopfront, kitchen and sweets for the profile. Mitu’s stiff smile ruins every shot. “Mitu, smile karo. Dant dikhao, darr mat dikhao!” Sougan adds, “Real photos stock images se jeette hain. Log asli dukaan dekhna chahte hain.”

At the counter, Sougan shrinks heavy festival photos with the Peplio Image Optimizer so the profile loads fast. Mitu cheers, “Wah! 12 MB se sirf 300 KB! Jaadu hai!” Seema says, “Jaadu nahi, pichhle episode ka lesson hai. Bas dobara kaam aaya.”

Next, they list Pujo products with prices. Seema says, “Sandesh, mishti doi, nolen gur cake, gift box. Naam, price, photo, sab daalo.” Paanwala copies with a sticky note: “Meri bhi listing! Ek chit, PAAN. Ho gaya!” The cow disagrees. This SEO comic story shows that a product list helps people choose you.

Now they ask happy customers for reviews. Mitu worries, “Agar usne ek star de diya toh? Main toh gayi!” Then the first five-star arrives. Sougan jokes, “Reviews naye zamane ka mouth-to-mouth hain. Bas ab ye phone mein chalta hai.” Reviews build trust for nearby buyers.

Noisy Aunty shouts from her balcony, “Internet se kya hoga? Ek customer nahi aayega, likh lo!” A dhaak beat booms behind her. Seema smiles, “Mitu, likh liya. Ab Aunty ki baat note kar lo.” Doubters are loud, but results are louder.

How to get customers during festival: measure and time it

The mystery 500 cake caller came from the profile call log. That is proof. Check your calls and searches in profile performance, and follow Google’s local business guidance if you also have a website. My guide on Google Search Console helps there. Next comes timing: knowing how to get customers during festival also means posting at the right hour. Mahalaya is calling in the next episodes.

The day before Pujo, they search again. This SEO comic story shows the win: the bakery pin glows with photos, hours and stars. Mitu says, “Seema, dekho! Hamari dukaan map pe hai, photos aur stars ke saath!” Paanwala grumbles, “Mera paan khud bolta hai! Map mein kyun nahi aaya?”

A tourist family in new Pujo clothes follows the map straight past Paanwala. He calls, “Arre bhaiya, mera paan khud bolta hai! Ruko toh!” They walk into the bakery. Mitu cries happily, “Aap… hamari dukaan dhoondh ke aaye? Seema, mujhe rona aa raha hai!” Local visibility works.

Noisy Aunty walks in and freezes. Tourists are buying sweet boxes they found on their phones! Then she says, “Maine toh pehle hi bola tha, internet best hai! Sab review dena!” Seema replies, “Haan Aunty, aapka objection bhi recorded hai. Purane message mein.” Reviews help local shops grow.

Sougan shows the profile call log on his phone. “Yeh dekho call log. 500 cake wala caller profile se aaya tha!” The mystery is solved. Mitu hugs her rolling pin and says, “Pujo committee? Mahalaya subah tak? Mera rolling pin kaanp raha hai!”

At dusk, dhaak and conch shells fill the air. Sougan says, “Mahalaya aa raha hai. Sahi time pe post kiya, toh rush double!” Paanwala mutters, “Mera paan khud bolta hai… par aaj chup kyun hai?” This SEO comic story ends with timing next.

That is how this SEO comic story helped Mitu get found, even if Paanwala is still waiting for his paan to speak up. Mahalaya is almost here, so join me in the next episode to learn the right time to post, and keep reading every SEO comic story in the series.

This SEO comic story comes straight from my own Durgapur streets, where every Mahalaya the whole town wakes at 4 AM for Chandipath. I have watched sweet shops miss Pujo sales simply because they posted too late.

So I turned that lesson into a new SEO comic story. Read Episode 12 below, and if you are new, catch up on all Peplio comic episodes first.

A Mahalaya SEO Comic Story Begins

It is the night before Pujo, and Mitu’s phone will not stop. A mystery caller wants fifty sweet boxes. “PACHAAS boxes?? Aap kaun bol rahe ho??” The voice only says, “Naam baad mein. Pehle order likho, beti!”

Six days earlier, it is Mahalaya. At 4 AM the whole town listens to Chandipath on phones and radios. Mitu worries, “Poora sheher jaag gaya… par ek bhi mishti order nahi!” Seema sips chai. “4 baje mishti? Log abhi Chandipath sun rahe hain, Mitu.”

As the sun rises, the market starts building pandals. Noisy Aunty shouts from her balcony, “Tumhari dukaan koi nahi jaanta! Pujo mein bhi makkhi maarogi!” Every SEO comic story has a doubter, and Mitu begs, “Aunty, aaj Mahalaya hai… thoda shubh bolo na!”

Across the street, Paanwala is relaxed. His Pujo Dhamaka banner is still rolled up and used as a pillow. “Banner? Pujo aane do, phir lagayenge. Jaldi kis baat ki!” A kid laughs, “Uncle, aapka banner bakri kha rahi hai!”

Wrong Timing in This SEO Comic Story

Mitu shows her big festival post from last night: a blurry photo saying “sweets available pls buy”. “Post kar diya! Ab orders ki baarish hogi!” Seema checks. “2 views. Ek tumhari maa, ek main.” No offer, wrong time, no reach.

Sougan arrives with chai and points at the radio. “Mahalaya 4 baje bajta hai, 10 baje nahi. Marketing bhi waisa hi!” Mitu gasps, “Matlab mera 11 baje wala post… Dashami ke baad ka dhaak?” This SEO comic story’s big rule: timing matters.

Seema asks the smart question: “Pujo mein sau mishti dukaan hain. Log hamein dhoondhenge kaise?” Sougan opens the Peplio Blog Idea Generator and finds real festival searches. “Wahi shabd likho jo log Google pe search karte hain.”

Step one is planning the offer before the festival. Mitu suggests, “Naam rakhein… Maa Durga Mithai Mahotsav Super Deluxe Combo?” Seema cuts it short. “Pujo Box. Kam se kam log padh toh payenge.” Clear name, fixed price, order deadline.

Paanwala spies on the bakery and copies, badly. “Unka Pujo Box? Mera Rasgulla Paan! Dono ka baap!” One bite and a customer winces, “Bhaiya, yeh paan hai ya rasgulla ka accident?” In this SEO comic story, copying without a plan never works.

Plan the Pujo Offer Before Mahalaya

In this SEO comic story, Mitu wanted to sell “sweets” with no plan. A festival buyer wants a clear offer: a named box, a fixed price, an order deadline and delivery. Decide this two weeks early, not on the festival morning. I write the dates into a simple calendar first, and I explain this fully in my guide on planning 30 days of content with ChatGPT. Check the real festival dates on the Durga Puja and Mahalaya pages so your launch date is never a guess.

SEO Comic Story Lesson: Use Festival Keywords

Seema asked the smart question: how will strangers find us among a hundred sweet shops? The answer is to write the exact words people type, like “durga puja sweets near me” or “pujo mishti home delivery”. Sougan pulled these ideas from the Peplio Blog Idea Generator. Google itself advises using the words your customers use in its SEO Starter Guide. Learn the basics of keyword research, then put these words in your post, product name and photo details, as shown in Google’s image best practices.

The SEO Comic Story Festival Fix

Step two is timing. At 6 AM, Chandipath ends and everyone on the temple steps is scrolling. Sougan says, “Chandipath khatam, phone haath mein. Abhi post karo!” Mitu shuts her eyes and taps. “Durga Durga… post ho gaya!”

Step three: tell Google. Seema makes a bright Pujo Box poster with the Peplio Free AI Image Generator and updates their Google profile. “Poster ready, keywords ready. Ab Google ko bhi pata hai.” Sougan grins, “Dukaan ka board sirf gali dekhti hai. Google poora sheher.”

At the vegetable market, Mitu sulks: only 14 likes. Then her phone buzzes nonstop. An uncle calls, “Google pe ‘Pujo mishti near me’ dala, aapka naam aaya!” Mitu is shocked. “Likes sirf 14… par calls 40?? Yeh kaise??” Here this SEO comic story twists.

A queue forms outside. Seema connects the dots. “Matlab order likes se nahi, search se aata hai.” Sougan nods. “Bilkul. Likes taali hain, search wallet hai.” People who search are ready to buy. People who like are only clapping.

Noisy Aunty watches the queue through binoculars. “Itni bheed? Zaroor free mein mithai baant rahe honge!” But something is hiding behind her back. A neighbour asks, “Aunty, aap phone pe kya chupa rahi ho?” Aunty quickly looks away.

Post When the Whole Town Is Awake

Mahalaya plays at 4 AM because that is when Bengal is listening. Sougan’s line in this SEO comic story is the whole rule: the right message at the wrong time is silence. After Chandipath ends, people stay on their phones, so Mitu posted at 6 AM, not 11 PM. Use the insights explained in the Instagram Help Center to find when your followers are active, and see what worked for me in my Instagram growth experiment. You can also check when festival searches peak on Google Trends.

Update Google Before the Festival Rush

The twist in this SEO comic story was 14 likes but 40 calls. The calls came from Google, not Instagram. Seema updated their Google Business Profile with Pujo photos, special hours and the words “Durga Puja sweets”. Google’s own Business Profile Help shows how to add special hours and posts. For local shops this is often cheaper than ads, and I explain why in my guide on SEO for small business in India. Likes are applause. Search is the wallet.

Pujo Payoff in Our SEO Comic Story

Back to Pujo eve. Seema reads the address on the giant order slip. “Pachaas boxes… address: Balcony wala ghar, Aunty ki gali.” Mitu’s jaw drops. “Aunty ki gali?? Matlab… NAHI!” This SEO comic story’s mystery is almost solved.

The mystery caller was Noisy Aunty! Fifty Pujo Boxes for her relatives and kitty party. “Maine toh pehle din se kaha tha, yeh bakery chalegi!” Seema smiles dryly. “Aunty, pehle din aapne makkhi maarne ki baat ki thi.”

One week later, the Dashami procession passes with dhaak and sindoor. Only now does Paanwala climb up with his banner. “PUJO DHAMAKA shuru! Aao aao!” A rickshaw driver laughs, “Bhaiya, Pujo toh ja rahi hai. Ab Diwali ka banner lagao!”

The Pujo Boxes sold out. Then Seema shows a reel: Mitu’s accidental dhunuchi dance at the pandal, 1.2 million views. “Mera dhunuchi dance?? Yeh kisne record kiya??” Sougan laughs, “Mitu, ab poora India tumhe dhoondh raha hai.” This SEO comic story continues…
